In this video, we take a look at the process to produce 3D printed RC airplane parts. Everything from designing the part, loading the part in to the printer software, printing, installation and lastly testing is covered.

The part is more specifically for an electric ducted fan jet being of the landing gear block. The stock version is plastic and does not hold up well to some less then perfect grass landings. It does look that the minimal material design was done for material cost savings.

The new 3d printed part consumes much more room inside the landing gear cavity.

The total design time was 26 minutes according to the raw footage taken from the design stage. This includes taking all required measurements. The printing time was 2 hours per block. I’d estimate material costs to be .50 per block.
