Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) released footage on Sunday showing a massive search and rescue operation being underway near the village of Argunovo, where an An-148 airliner crashed earlier in the day.
Investigators and emergency services can be seen working at the scene, searching for clues as to why the aircraft crashed. Authorities reported that they have already found one of the plane’s flight recorders.
All 71 people aboard, including three foreign nationals and six members of the crew were killed when the Saratov Airlines flight 6W703 crashed shortly after take-off.
The plane was flying to the city of Orsk when it vanished from radar screens shortly after it took off from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, before reportedly crashing some 80 kilometres (50 miles) south-east of the capital.
