This one is a first for me. We managed to jump into a helicopter with our BBQ supplies, Mavic Air, Mavic Pro and the Inspire 2 to film some of the more interesting but very remote sites in Alberta.
The second site we stopped at, the Inspire decided it was going to show the ugly parts of the latest firmware and the Camera drift appears to be the likely cause for the pilot error that lead to the full and complete crash into a shrub on the side of the river. Just when you thought it was safe, the automatic landing gear activates and tips the drone into the river where its submerged for over 15 min in ice cold water.
Nothing but luck here despite what it appears like on the surface. The Drone broke two props but was under crystal clear fresh water! This part shows the crash and recovery. Part 2 will show how it was restored to fully working condition.
At the end of the day it needed a new cable between the camera, new props and one battery was fried. The second battery was replaced to be safe. Complete safety test was done indoors, and all internal parts were inspected. The aircraft was restored to working condition. Drone was returned to DJI for further inspection before being flown outside a flight cage.
