Russian Military Radar Station – Moscow – Drone Footage

Russian Military Radar Station - Moscow - Drone Footage
The Don-2N radar in Sofrino, which would not look out of place in a Star Wars film, was filmed by drone for the first time, on Wednesday.

The equipment is so sensitive that it can pick up, not just ballistic missiles, but any objects coming from space larger than five centimetres (two inches) in diameter. The radar system can also determine which objects should be destroyed and can pick out those that pose a life and death threat.

The Don-2N radar system comprises individual ultra-high frequency radars placed at each of its corners for an early warning of a possible attack on Moscow. The system, which is constantly in a state of full alert, is operated 24 hours a day. It can engage ICBMs at a range of 3,700 km (2,299 miles) and is run by an Elbrus-2 supercomputer.

The radar station belongs to the A-135 anti-ballistic missile complex deployed around Moscow, which works with 53T6 counter-rockets.
